For the second year running, Logan will be represented at an international competition that aims to find the next global innovation superstar.
Logan company Suelo Tech was chosen from a field of 17 that presented at entrepreneurship contest Pitch@Palace Australia 3.0 at Bond University last week.
The Kingston-based Suelo Tech will now go to the national finals in Perth in October. Suelo Tech is developing a data collection system that makes agricultural practices more productive and sustainable.
Co-creator Julia Khalyavko said the successful pitch took her and her partner Mohsin Parwez by surprise.
"It (Suleo Tech) is still a very new thing to us so all this has happened very fast," Julia said. "It's a little nerve-wracking but we're looking forward to how this unfolds."
She said the mentorship of Tony Sharp from Substation 33 proved invaluable to her and Mohsin as they developed their concept.
If successful they will emulate fellow Logan entrepreneurs Brad Clair and Nick Kamols from PowerWells, who were last year chosen to pitch their recycled batteries idea to the Duke of York Prince Andrew at Buckingham Palace in London.
The Duke of York founded Pitch@Palace in 2014 to provide a platform to amplify and accelerate the work of entrepreneurs and early-stage businesses, connecting them with potential supporters including mentors and business partners.
Logan City Council supports these start-ups with initiatives like INNOV8 Logan, an ideas generator driven by a team of entrepreneurs.
The initiative is about empowering entrepreneurs, innovators and start-ups to create economic and social benefits for the community.
