Will Trea Turner Eventually Steal 100 Bases In A Season? Kind Of A No-Brainer.

42 steals in 88 games! Seems almost impossible, but Trea Turner is just that good, and that dang fast. But the incredible thing is he’s done it while dealing with injuries and minor slumps all season. For example, after he returned from injury in April, he only had 1 steal in the final 10 games of the month. And then in May he had a hard time finding his bat, hitting .239 for the month, but still picking up 9 SBs.

And then June came.

June is hopefully going to become the norm for Trea for the foreseeable future. 22 stolen bases while hitting .298 with a .370 OBP. When he puts it all together, he is unstoppable, as we saw in June.

But unfortunately he then injured his wrist and missed 2 months. Since being back he is a perfect 5/5 on steals, but it’s clear he’s capable of much more. Which is a crazy thing to say, considering he’s now set the Nats record for steals with 42 in 88 games, but that’s just how good he is.

Which begs the question- is Trea Turner one day going to steal 100 bags in a season? I say yes, and I don’t think it’s close. He had 22 swipes in June alone. To get 100 for a season, you just need 16.6/month for the season. Seems like a no-brainer that he should be able to do that, possibly, dare I say, with EASE. He’s only played in 188 major league games, and has barely even begun to learn the ins and outs of patience at the plate to see pitches and draw walks. Just wait until he figures that shit out. OBP above .400 is in the near future. And 100 stolen bases will follow right along. There’s a reason he’s your favorite player’s favorite player, and overall, just a delight to watch baseball.
