HERE are some lovely pictures of Radipole gardens in Weymouth in the 1940s.

They come from the Weymouth Museum collection and show the old boating/paddling pool that so many people talk about when sharing their own childhood memories.

And people's memories by the Friends of Radipole Garden to be displayed on the wall of a heritage cafe due to be built in the playpark area.

Sue Hogben, of the Friends, who shared the pictures with us, said: "Most of us of a certain age recall ‘soggy bottoms’ from coming a cropper on it’s slippery surface. We’re trying to gather in as many people’s memories of the park and gardens as we can for our living memories that’ll be used in the new heritage cafe to be built in the playpark area if we succeed in getting through stage two of our lottery bid."

"We especially would love to hear from anyone who remembers the US troops stationed there in the park area before D Day."
