Epic Just Made Fortnite's 'Avengers: Infinity War' Mode So Much Better

The big Fortnite X Avengers: Infinity War limited time mash-up is going strong at the moment, and Epic has released not one, but two, hot fixes today to the new mode to make it more balanced and more fun.

The second fix is a big one, and it makes the mode a lot more fun. For one thing, Thanos is now more powerful but easier to kill. This means you can do more damage with the Mad Titan but more people will get a chance to play as him. You feel more powerful on the offensive even though the life bar has been slashed pretty drastically from 800 HP to 500 HP.

Since the fix has been implemented I've had a lot more fun in the game even when I'm not playing as Thanos (though I've still only managed a #2 spot.) One thing I like is the larger storm circle earlier on in the match. It gives you more time to loot and get your bearings, maybe go dance in front of a camera or something, before heading in.

The other fixes make it a little less likely for sky camping (since the bus drops you from lower now) and doesn't punish you quite so harshly if you get caught at the edge of the storm.

Here's the full list of changes:

Thanos Changes

  • Increased Beam from 12 to 20 damage on players.
  • Increased Punch damage from 80 to 100.
  • Decreased health from 800 to 500.

General Mode Changes

  • Reduced height of the Bus when dropping
  • Bigger initial storm circle
  • Less storm damage early game (first 3 storms from 5%/5%/10% per tick to 1%/2.5%/5%)
  • Initial Gauntlet spawn time changed from bus ride plus 30-45s to bus ride plus 120-135s
  • Increased spawn rate of Med Kits, Chug Jugs and Big Shields.
  • Removed spawn of Bandages and Slurp Juice.

I've still seen Bandages and Slurp Juice since the update so I'm not sure about that but I've also definitely seen way more Med Kits and Big Shields.

Anyways, this may not seem like much, and may not fix all the problems with this mode (I would have been fine if they'd just buffed Thanos rather than taking away 300 HP) but it's a good start and I've enjoyed my time with the mode a lot more since.
