Accident Claims 11 Lives In Niger

The accident affected 27 people; 11 died at the scene, while 16 survived with injuries.

An accident, which occurred on Tuesday on the Ibeto/Kontagora Road in Kontagora Local Government Area of Niger State, has led to the death of 11 people.

The incident involved a bus, a Toyota Corolla and a Hilux van. 

Malam Abdullahi Ibrahim, the Federal Road Safety Corps Unit Commander in Charge of Kontagora, confirmed the incident in an interview with NAN in Kontagora.

Abdullahi said the accident affected 27 people; 11 died at the scene, while 16 survived with injuries. He added that the bodies of those who passed away were deposited in the morgue at Kontagora General Hospital, while those injured were also taken to the Kotangora General Hospital for treatment.

According to him, the bus was en route Kebbi, while the Toyota Corolla and Hilux were travelling to Kontagora. He noted that the accident occurred as a result of speeding and wrong overtaking. 

He advised motorists to be cautious when driving, particularly during the Sallah celebration.
