Police believe that “some a—hole” on Roosevelt Island is shooting at Solow’s One East River Place rental tower

“Some a—hole” on Roosevelt Island has been shooting at apartments across the East River at Solow Management’s One East River Place rental tower, law enforcement sources told the New York Post.

Police sources said a tenant on the 14th floor woke up Friday morning to find glass strewn across the living room floor. Cops found a .38-caliber bullet they believe was most likely fired from a Smith & Wesson handgun, sources told the Post.

Police believe the first bullet hit building at 525 East 72nd Street sometime overnight between Thursday and Friday.

Less than 24 hours later, a tenant on the 32nd floor was awoken around 1:15 a.m. Saturday by the sound of shattering glass. No ballistic evidence was immediately recovered in the incident, according to the Post.

Police “think it’s some a—hole standing on a balcony shooting across the river,” a high-ranking NYPD insider told the newspaper.

No tenants were injured by gunfire, but police say they could have easily been.

“They were lucky they weren’t up late watching television,” said a law enforcement source.

Solow built the 50-story Upper East Side tower in 1986. One four-bedroom unit in April rented for $13,000 per month, according to Streeteasy.

Police said they started looking toward Roosevelt Island after overnight workers at an apartment building at 30 River Road called 911 to report gunshots. The building sits directly across the river from One East River Place, where the shot-out windows were boarded up on Monday. [NYP] – Rich Bockmann
