Ants on-a-stick — turducken, too — are among the more than 80 new foods at Wisconsin State Fair

From ants on-a-stick to tsunami nachos, this year's Wisconsin State Fair will serve plenty of new food combinations for your mouth and brain to absorb.

The fair's list of more than 80 new foods and beverages this year features nearly 20 new edibles on a stick.

You like bacon? Try the Bacon Jam & Brie Burger from Blue Moon Tavern at the Park, or the Jumbo Stuffed Bacon & Cheddar Tater Kegs from The Shrimp Stack.

Crave something sweet? Line up for a non-alcoholic Beerana Foster Shake from Slim's Lakefront Brew Pub & Eatery, or an Ice Cream S'mores Quesadilla from the Mexican Grill.

The list includes items already announced as finalists in the Fair's annual Sporkies competition, such as Deep-Fried Turducken on-a-Stick from Water Street Brewery and Saz's Breakfast Bombs from Saz's Taste of Wisconsin.

Judging of the Sporkies finalists begins at 11 a.m. Aug. 8 at the Associated Bank Amphitheater. Chaired by "Wisconsin Foodie" host Kyle Cherek, panelists include Journal Sentinel food editor Nancy Stohs, former Packers safety LeRoy Butler, "Around the Corner" host John McGivern and Milwaukee radio personality Steve Palec. This year's fair takes place Aug. 2-12 at Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis.
