You are not ready for this totally transporting Star Wars-themed wedding! Addie + James DIY’d a majority of their ‘imperial’ décor for the wedding—including a Rebel Alliance ceremony backdrop you’ve got to see. They contacted the 501st Legion, a worldwide Star Wars costuming organization operated by fans, and had Stormtroopers, Ewoks, and other colorful characters join the epic celebration. The couple even created surprise posters of the bridal party’s faces superimposed onto Star Wars characters! The Orlando Science Center provided the perfect setting for galactic fun and elegant features for a wedding that was truly out of this world.
Addie tells us: James and I met in the most unexpected of ways. I decided to try out E-Harmony for the first time in my life, took the test, and matched up with only 5 people in the state of Florida. James instantly messaged me and said, “E-Harmony thinks we’re a 100% perfect match, want to see if that’s true?” And sparks flew! From there, our love story blossomed!
Alright, recruits, the galaxy awaits…let’s check out these photos by Nick and Lauren Photography!
Mandalorian Meets Rebel Princess
Addie shares a bit more about the inspiration behind the day: We are a fun, nerdy, and creative couple and decided to build a Star Wars-themed wedding day around our passions. The first thing we did was create our symbol. I’m a rebel and a princess and James is a bounty hunter and a scoundrel. So we decided to make a symbol composed of both Mandalorian and Rebel.
We used it on our save-the-dates and invitations (we even created a wax seal). Ultimately, the symbol helped us tie everything together.
The Training Jedi (AKA the Wedding Party)
James cosplays Boba Fett, so A+J decided to make him a major character in the wedding! They designed his suit and had it custom-made to tie in with the whole theme.
For my bridesmaid dresses, I wanted my girls to feel like themselves, but still match. So I told them to pick out any black sequin dress that made them feel sexy and comfortable, then I ordered matching black tulle skirts to go on top. We altered them a little by adding a sash and an open slit. The idea was: since I had an outfit change, they should too. After the ceremony, they could shed the long skirt and have a dress fit for dancing.
The Rebel Alliance Backdrop
Yup, that’s the Rebel Alliance backdrop they designed together, complete with florals!
Because what else would the officiant wear to a Star Wars-themed wedding?
Despite sounding cliché, the most memorable moment of our wedding was the ceremony. We were both a little frantic trying to get everything finished for the big day, and we hadn’t seen each other. So, when I got to walk down the aisle to James, to the song he sung to me at our proposal and being surrounded by the ones who love us, it was magical. The rest of the night went by in such a blur, but that moment will replay in slow motion forever.

A Joining of Forces (AKA The Newlyweds)
This shot = INCREDIBLE
I designed the garter to be a pun on Boba Fett’s bounty, and we custom painted a helmet for his entrance. It was a lot of fun searching and planning fun little surprises around the wedding.
Here’s Addie’s expert advice for brides planning a themed wedding: Don’t be afraid to go all in and have fun with the way you have your wedding. Incorporating your favorite binge-worthy TV show or novel is a wonderful way to add a unique touch of personality to your wedding. Details are key and providing the right atmosphere really allows your guests to immerse themselves in that world. You have to believe in it to make it real. And remember to have fun with it! Breathe life into the idea, and watch it morph into something magical.
A Star Wars-Themed Wedding Reception
Imagine you’re part of the bridal party seeing these for the first time…can you picture the reactions?! Soooo good!
It was all about black, copper, and silvery details for this rooftop reception.
You bet that each table had a unique centerpiece!
Oh, you know, just casually hanging out with stormtroopers at a wedding!
The advice that I would give to those planning now would be to just go for it! We chose a theme and went full throttle. We had aspects of Star Wars everywhere. Which in turn, ignited passion in our florists, the cake designer, our photographers and every other person involved in making our day so perfect because we were so passionate about it ourselves. Ultimately the wedding is to celebrate love. Love for each other, love of your common interests, and love of your friends and family. So just surround yourself with the things that you love, and it will be amazing!
Sweet Flours Bakery crafted this delight that would even make a Sith proud.
The force is strong with these two… and yes, she did finish off the day wearing a star-covered dress—wouldn’t you?!
