Dave Matthews can do a few things very well. Make frat boys and frat boy-adjacent jam band fans happy, for one. Sing-shout little baby with a whole lot of earnestness, for another. But one thing the man has never been known for is his style—at least not in a particularly positive sense. Ever since Under the Table and Dreaming turned into a '90s weed fan extravaganza, the man at the front of the band that bears his name has leaned into a sort of schlubby, drug ruggy vibe.

And yet...

Because yesterday in New York, Dave Matthews (the man, not the band) stepped out wearing a pair of kicks emphatically approved by style insiders: Blundstone boots. Observe:

They might be this pair. They might be this one. I honestly can't quite tell, because from my personal experience sometimes Blundstone's leather photographs looking different than it does IRL. Either way, though: Well done, Dave!

Are we all going to start taking our style cues from the auteur behind "Ants Marching" this year? Probably not. After all, the rest of his outfit is pretty standard middle-aged bro. But still. This seems like it means something. I'll be sure to let you know if I figure out what it is.
