No fewer than 5,500 policemen have been deployed in Adamawa to provide security during the Feb. 23 Presidential/ National Assembly elections.

Mr. Audu Madaki, Commissioner of Police in Adamawa said this on Thursday in Yola.

He added that the police and other sister agencies were fully prepared for the conduct of the elections.

“So far the command had deployed about 3,500 police officers across the state to man all polling units and INEC staff and facilities.

“And additional 2,000 police officers are on stand by to compliment and support the efforts of the officers on elections duties,’’ Madaki said.

He, however, warned against thuggery and political violence.

“No genuine and reasonable voter would snatch ballot box during the election, only a criminal would do that and anyone caught in ballot box snatching will be treated as a criminal,’’ Madaki said.

He said the command would continue to intensify security patrol to checkmate post-election violence.
