Inter midfielder Christian Eriksen is one of four candidates in the running to win the Danish footballer of the year award, the Danish football federation have confirmed via their official website.

Eriksen joined Inter during the recent January transfer window in a circa €20 million deal from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur and he has made four appearances since his arrival at the club.

The 27-year-old attacking midfielder is a four time Danish footballer of the year having won the award in 2013, 2014, 2015 and most recently 2018.

In the past year Eriksen has finished as a runner up in the Champions League and helped secure the Danish national team their place at this Summer’s European Championship’s, which are to take place across a host of major European cities.

Eriksen is in competition with reigning Danish footballer of the year Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, RB Leipzig striker Yussuf Poulsen and Borussia Dortmund central midfielder Thomas Delaney.
