Netflix And Telltale Team Up For 'Stranger Things' Game Series

The Upside Down is coming to PCs and consoles in the undefined future, as Telltale Games has confirmed its working on a Stranger Things game series with a blessing from Netflix.

I can think of only one GIF to describe my feelings.

Sadly, the game's existence is pretty much all that's known, but it's worthy of a headline. Especially since fans have to wait an excruciatingly long time for Stranger Things 3 sometime in 2019. While we wait for Telltale to put its signature narrative adventure stamp on the Duffer Brothers' supernatural universe of Hawkins, Indiana, a trio of books was recently announced to tide fans over, including a Stranger Things prequel novel releasing next year.

Will there be a "Steve Harrington's Adventures In Babysitting" side quest? Probably not. Am I hoping we can engage in some tabletop D&D at some point, fight the Demogorgon, and use Eleven's frightening supernatural powers to extract our own revenge on Brenner and company? Absolutely.

Telltale has promised to reveal more in the near future, and I hope they will. There's an outside chance we'll be playing this before Stranger Things 3 drops on Netflix next year. That's because Telltale is famous for its episodic approach to games, allowing them to produce smaller experiences on a semi-regular basis rather than spend multiple years developing a standalone release. Typically the developer releases 4 or 5 episodes in a story arc.

In any case, this is bound to be one of Telltale's most popular forays into adventure game storytelling. Stranger Things has turned into an absolute behemoth for Netflix, as much a pop culture mainstay as it is a highly rated series.

Any guesses or wishes for the plot of Telltale's Stranger Things game?
