With all due respect to Madden 19, NBA Live 19, Session and even FIFA 19 or another smaller sports game, Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 had the best trailer of any sports video game shown during E3 or the separate showcases just before the main event.
Take a look at it below:
The Graphics Are Stellar
The first thing that jumps out at you is the graphics. The players shown are rendered impeccably. The stadiums, weather effects, and the crowd are just as well done. Based on this trailer, PES 2019 is my early favorite for most visually impressive sports video game of the year.
The Animations Were Superb
Ir's not just the player models and faces that make the game look so good in this trailer. It's also the movements and animations. The action looks so stylish and inviting. It makes you want to pick up the sticks to take control of one of the players in the trailer.
Solid Star Power
It's not Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar, but accurately rendered versions of David Beckham and Diego Maradona is nothing to dismiss. The tattoos and body structures are rendered well which makes these players all the more recognizable.
Clearly Conveyed Gameplay Improvements
The following 11 skill traits are a major part of PES 2019's gameplay additions:
- Cross Over Turn
- Double Touch
- Step On Skill control
- No Look Pass
- Interception
- Penalty Specialist
- GK Penalty Saver
- GK High Punt
- Rising Shots
- Chip shot control
- Dipping Shots
The trailer does a good job of conveying the impact of the moves and player types. It's not a bad job of information delivery for a 2:38 spot.
