Inter Squadron Athletics

Woodley Air cadets have been crowned Athletics champs after an action packed day of competitions Abingdon’s Tilsley Park stadium. In taking the win they narrowly beat Slough and Britwell units from a field of almost 200 cadets from 14 Squadrons from right across Berkshire and Oxfordshire. The winners in each of the competitions will now go forward to represent Thames Valley Wing at the South West Region championships.

The trophies were awarded by Wing Commander Chris Fisher “I congratulate both all of the winners plus everyone who taken part today as well as a the great team of staff who helped run all of the events without a hitch” He continued ” I look forward to cheering the Wing team at the forthcoming South West athletics”.

Wing Sports Officer, Flight Lieutenant Med Boxwell summed up the day “Today was a massive event to organise with over 12 disciplines, 5 age categories in both track and field. Supported by a brilliant team of volunteers, my thanks to all involved including the Wing Commander for being the announcer the cadets were able to enjoy a day of competition on a sunny Oxfordshire day”.
