UFC 223 Cursed by Injury and Conor McGregor

UFC 223 is taking place (just about) tomorrow in Brooklyn, NY. But nearly a week since we had Tony Ferguson pull out due to injury, Conor McGregor decided to throw a trolley at a bus full of fighters.
The attack on the bus was a response to earlier drama this week, where team mates of Khabib Nurmagomedov got in an altercation with one of McGregors teammates, Artem Lobov who was also due to fight at 223.
Lobov was promptly pulled from the card following the incident which saw 3 of the 223 fights cancelled for medical reasons.

Ferguson’s replacement

Earlier in the week a replacement for Ferguson stepped up. Featherweight champion Max Holloway. The fight meant that Holloway would have to make weight for the Lightweight fight in just 6 days.
‘Blessed’ took the fight, and by doing so had the chance to be the second two division champion in the UFC.
That wasn’t meant to be though, as a few hours ago Holloway was announced as medically unfit by the New York State athletic commission to go up against Nurmagomedov.
UFC 223 is now nothing short of a disaster, but, provided he makes weight, Anthony Pettis will be moving up to fight for the lightweight belt. As his original fight with Michael Chiesa was cancelled due to the now infamous ‘bus incident’.

Got all that?
We haven’t either. The whole card is an absolute mess and the UFC themselves haven’t yet announced any punishment for McGregor, who’s set to appear in court on three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief.
Shortly before handing himself in to Police after the altercation, UFC president Dana White revealed that McGregor sent him a message that said;
“I’m sorry about Michael [Chiesa], and I’m sorry about Rose [Namajunas] and whoever else, but this had to be done.”
Seemingly The Notorious just can’t grasp the damage he’s done to one of the promotions biggest cards this year.
