Its just so soft!

Agreed! My friend has the alcantara case for his S9. Kinda tempts me, especially since my phone just killed itself.

I'm surprised it withstands wear and tear as well as it does.

someone at the place i work had his screen crack right across corner to corner while cleaning it.. kinda worrying, especially considering repairability is literally zero.

seeing how well elitebooks fared in his hands.. makes me question just how "well built" these things are.

EDIT: also, at an otherwise all-elitebook company, we call it "the donglebook", because when he doesnt have his surface dock its hopeless.

It's such a nice laptop when it comes to specs and yet my existing USB C dongles wouldn't work on it. I don't understand Microsoft's hesitation with USB C.

There is more that meets the eye
I see the soul that is inside

This can't be emphasized enough.  If you go back and watch old iFixit videos, they say explicitly that they give everything a repairability score between 1 and 10.  The Surface Laptop broke the bottom out of their scale!

Show some love for Canada - why don't you review the Eurocom Sky X9C??? I want to know what a $20,000 laptop feels like to carry around and use. Their Monster 4 is a new model that they refreshed recently too - quite portable with some serious hardware inside.

that outdated I/O though...

just the I/O alone immediately disqualifies it as a laptop i would buy to use as my main laptop. i need at least a dedicated gpu and prefer to have the option of using an eGPU.

But...but...what about right to repair?

Why didn’t they open it like the iMac Pro?

Why not invite Rossmann over about this glue-ridden monstrosity of disposable inaccessibility?

Shouldn’t half of the video be about that? No mention at all? All rights2repair matter.

its actually worse than that. even microsoft themselves cant do shit. if something breaks its either a refurb or a new one.

Alex, I saw your Saturn V wallpaper in the video and I really like it, I even tried a reverse image search and I can't seem to find it. Could you please upload it somewhere? :)

Pretty sure that's a Clevo rebrand so it would be very similar to the Sagar laptops we've looked at before.

  • 1 year later...

Are you guys gonna look at the 2019 offerings anytime soon or are they too boring already?

We will be fairly soon, just have other projects that needs to get finished first.

It's good stuff (I bought one... 13" rose gold i5 256G 8G) But I am kinda dying to know how the other models on the lineup are. I was doing cinebench runs in the store to choose between the 15" silver and the 13" rose gold (no black or alcantara for me) and they seemed very similar in terms of multi core perf.
