Chelsea are unwilling to meet Juventus’ £60million valuation of Brazil star Alex Sandro, clearing the way for Manchester United to sign the defender.
Antonio Conte was furious that the club failed to sign Sandro last summer and he’s heavily advised moving for the Brazilian again this month.
Juventus are happy to let Sandro leave should a buyer meet their £60m valuation but the heirachy at Chelsea see little value in the deal given Marcos Alonso’s form at left wing-back and have therefore cooled their interest.
Chelsea will now look into alternative, cheaper targets and their decision to shy away from a deal for Sandro has cleared the path for Manchester United, according to the Telegraph.
Jose Mourinho is keen on signing two full-backs, a creative midfielder and a striker in the next two transfer windows and wants reinforcements as soon as possible.
Sandro is believed to be keen on a move to the Premier League and he could double his salary at Old Trafford, where he would oust Luke Shaw as the club’s first choice left-back.
United have triggered a 12-month extension in Shaw’s contract but will review his future at the end of the season, when United could cash in as he enters the final year of his contract.
Juventus confirmed in December that Sandro is free to leave Turin for the right price and that the club’s policy was not to stand in the way of players that want to leave.
‘We have said many times that when a player asks to be sold, regardless of prestige or importance within the team, we are in favour of a sale,’ Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta told Mediaset Premium.
Chelsea have already signed Ross Barkley in a £15m deal but Conte wants to add further depth to his squad and has advised his board to make at least two more signings.
Left wing-back and centre forward are believed to be the priority.
