"It looks like a scene straight out of a movie when you see a car approaching towards you hitting and wobbling other vehicles." These were the words of Vimal Sardana, husband of Poonam Sardana, who passed away in the accident when he was driving on the Punjabi Bagh flyover. Little did he know that the next second the car he was seen coming in the wrong direction would actually hit him. The little girl Chetenaya (13), who is critical and undergoing treatment at Fortis hospital, had also celebrated Bhai Dooj with her little brother who was also in the car when the accident took place.

Eight members of the family were returning home after seeking blessings at Bada Mandir in Chhattarpur. The impact of the accident was such that the shattered glass pieces hit Chetenaya and some even were stuck in the body. She was sitting right next to the window.

Family members told police that doctors fear she might lose vision from one of her eyes. The eyes of her deceased mother Poonam have been preserved as well in case the doctors need it.

Family members alleged that the police was trying to shield the accused girl and did not address them properly. The accused, Shivani, is the daughter of a deceased Delhi police officer. Poonam's sister-in-law Sonia stated that an officer was trying to help her flee and were trying to take her away in another car.

When we were at the police station someone informed us that the accused is leaving the hospital premises after getting her medical done. "My son tried to stop the car in which the officer was taking her. They were not stopping and he clung onto the window. He sustained injuries as well but we could not let the accused go scot-free," said Sonia.

On the other hand, the police said they were not shielding the accused, but the crowd turned violent after the accident.
