KONA, HAWAII (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Big Island teen was found guilty Tuesday of multiple counts in connection with a brutal 2016 rape and sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Tyron Sigrah, 17, was tried as an adult. He was found guilty of first- and second-degree sexual assault, kidnapping and robbery.

Sigrah's attorney, Deputy Public Defender Wendy DeWeese, motioned for a reduced sentencing.

But that was denied by Circuit Court Judge Robert Kim.

In 2016, Sigrah was one of two teens who allegedly held a woman against her will, beat her and raped her at the Old Kona Airport Park's soccer field.

Sigrah was 15 years old at the time.

The second suspect was later identified as Samuel Latrik, who was 17 at the time of the alleged attack.

Latrik is awaiting trial on three counts of first-degree sexual assault, second-degree assault, kidnapping, second-degree robbery, third-degree sexual assault and first-degree attempted sexual assault.

According to court documents, Sigrah must register as a sex offender and pay more than $1,200 to the crime victims compensation fund fee.
