    Wonderful, peculiar album meant for a long, lonely night of driving, Feist tries on a lot of sounds and musical trends in this album. Not all of it works - after the excellent, confident opening title track, much of the first half of the album meanders along - but that feeling of dislocation and longing is there. Feist has never been very good at explaining her work - she uses a lot of words without exactly saying "this is what we were going for" but the effect of the album is fierce. The songs that are meant to be existentially substantial - A Man is Not His Song, End of the Century - are ambitious and haunting. Feist asks some big questions in this album and has some answers.
