Mission gains urgency with goal set for before 75th anniversary of country's independence

India has announced that it will send three of its astronauts to a low Earth orbit before the 75th anniversary of the country's independence on Aug 15, 2022.

If successful, it will become the fourth country - after Russia, the United States and China - to send humans to space.
