Trending News: Do You Love Tacos Enough To Pay $25,000 For This One?

Quick Take

You say you really love tacos, but only because you're willing to drive out of your way to a few taco trucks with particularly rave reviews. If you really love tacos it's time to put your money where your mouth is (literally) and eat a $25,000 taco.

Chef Juan Licerio Alcala is flipping the taco game on its head. Tacos are typically a pretty cheap affair. Part of the fun is you can typically get a few different types. But Chef Alcala is making it harder to get even one. He's the head chef at the Grand Velas Los Cabos Resort in Baja, Mexico, and fancy destinations require fancy $25,000 tacos. The chef described to Yahoo News the shock he gets from patrons. "People are excited and a little surprised about how you can eat a taco for $25,000 (497,000 pesos) when you can find one on the street for 10 pesos."

While you check your bank account, let's break down the ingredients of this elitist $25,000 taco:

Pinch of Beluga Caviar
(This is the most expensive in the world.)

Azure Azure

Dollop of Black Truffle Brie

Over The Moon Dairy

Drizzle of Civet Coffee
(This is a particularly pricey liquid made from the fermented excrement of a civet that's digested coffee beans.)

ALIBABA

Dash of 24-Karat Gold Flakes
(This adds zero flavor, but is just a fun way to literally eat some of your money back. Maybe try collecting it afterward like they do with the civet!)

France Caviar

Customers have to put down a $12,500 deposit for this taco that is presented in the middle of desert and "encircled by motorcycles." Whatever that means. The chef even has the perfect booze to pair with the taco: A $150,000 bottle of tequila.

You should not be surprised to learn that no one has ordered the $25,000 taco. Yet.

Drop This Fact

The word taco translates to "light lunch" in Mexican Spanish.
