Alex Iwobi Says Super Eagles Will Fight To Finish Third In AFCON 2019

Super Eagles playmaker, Alex Iwobi, has said that Gernot Rohr’s men will try hard to win the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, third-place bronze match against Tunisia.

The 23-year-old Arsenal star believes the game against Tunisia will give the Super Eagles players the chance to go back home with their heads lifted, despite their failure to play in this year’s AFCON final.

Nigeria will on Wednesday night tackle the Carthage Eagles at the Al-Salam Cairo Stadium.

The Super Eagles head to the game after losing 2-1 to Algeria in the semi-final encounter on

“We have one last game and we will try to win it,” Iwobi told reporters in Tuesday’s pre-match press conference at the Al-Salam Stadium.

“Yes, we didn’t reach the final, but playing for third place is also great.

“I believe that I delivered a great performance and it’s not over yet.

“The rest of the players know that we still have a chance to go back home with our heads lifted.”
