The ACTUAL Computer from the Saturn V Rocket - feat. Destin from SmarterEveryDay

nicklmg

When was he in huntsville!?!??!?!?
He was literally just ~3 miles away from me. I so wish I could have met him. I go to the space and rocket center at least once a year

You mention Destin's video, but you haven't linked it yet? I take it that the video isn't up yet? And WHY NO LINKS TO HIS CHANNEL IF YOU'RE WORKING WITH HIM?? I'm sorry, this is very unprofessional. Even IF he doesn't have the video up yet. You should be LINKING his channel.

So looking into this SmartDeploy thing, but boy does it seams to be a mess.

  1. Target audience is company's.
  2. Requires company email (i.e. a "gmail.com" email won't work)
  3. 15 Windows 10 licenses? No, it seems to be 15 deployments to machines. (Think clone one master, then copy/install that clone to 15 other machines). It may give the machine a unique Windows license, but it's part of the deployment as far as I can tell.
  4. Migrate to windows 10 from 7? Wouldn't have a clue how. (I haven't installed the smart deploy application, I don't really have an intention to at this point)
  5. My account page mentions it's a 15 day trail and that I can "Upon purchase you’ll pick up right where you left off"

This was amazing. Thanks Linus!

With regard to the computer memory, I hope you mention in Destin’s video that the magnetic core memory is the reason why many operating systems STILL produce a ‘coredump’ when they break (ie a dump file of the memory contents).

This is kind of real world hard problem engineering is really fascinating. So many people don’t seem to get why you can just slap whatever latest consumer technology into machines this complex. Maybe these videos can help them understand.

  • 1 year later...

Thanks Youtube algorithm!

I had to write a review paper on the sublimator principle of operation for Heat Transfer. They are freaking sweat. Literally, your EVA suit is... sweating water, into space.

Got me thinking of something I'd like to see: would Destin be able to hook you up with a vaccum chamber to run a PC in.. connected to a sublimator? How long can you run a Threadripper in Space?
