Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi to talk about his life and times at Whitley Bay Film Festival
Heavy metal torchbearer Tony Iommi will make a guest appearance at the annual Whitley Bay Film Festival this summer.
The former Black Sabbath guitarist will attend a screening of the band’s The End of the End documentary, filmed at their swansong show at Birmingham’s Genting Arena in February 2017, at The Exchange on Howard Street, North Shields on Sunday 19th August.
Appearing alongside ‘The End of the End’ director Dick Carruthers, Tony will answer questions from music historian and author Chris Phipps at the event.
Festival director Ema Lea told Chronicle Live: “We’re hugely honoured to welcome such a legend as Tony Iommi.
“His music has been massively influential and popular, particularly to people in the North East.”
She added: “Tony will be talking about his life and times and the importance of the documentary which captures the band’s homecoming final gig.”
The day before on Saturday 18th August, Dick Carrathers will attend a screening of his Led Zeppelin concert film ‘Celebration Day’ filmed at their London The O2 show in December 2007 where he’ll be interviewed by Chris Phipps.
Tickets to the Led Zeppelin screening cost £16.50 and Black Sabbath cost £31.50. Both are available now from the Whitley Bay Film Festival website.
