Arsene Wenger has admitted he would not be fully comfortable with managing another Premier League club once he leaves Arsenal.

The 68-year-old bowed out with a 1-0 victory over Huddersfield Town on Sunday, and received a warm reception from both sets of fans at the John Smith’s Stadium.

After nearly 22 years at Arsenal, Wenger will now seek a new challenge and the Frenchman has revealed that he has already received offers.

But the prospect of joining a rival Premier League club is not something which Wenger views as a viable option.

Asked if he would want to face Arsenal as a manager next season, Wenger replied: ‘I think I’m not ready for that at the moment.

‘That would be very difficult, on that day I would stay at home.

‘At the moment, I don’t envisage that.

‘I’ve had offers, yes of course.

‘But at the moment I’ve not spoken to anybody.

‘I’ve had many offers but when you come out of such a long process, you cannot jump out and the next morning say you’ll go somewhere else.’

Asked if he felt he could manage another team in the Premier League, Wenger replied: ‘I don’t know, maybe it’s better I go somewhere else.’

Wenger also admitted in an interview with SFR Sport on Sunday evening that he wanted a ‘short-term project’.

‘A project that makes sense, with potential, which has the means to match its ambition as well, for me, at my age, I can no longer work for another 20 years,’ said the Frenchman.

‘So, a project that is achievable in the short term, but has a long-term sense.

‘Today, I do not know what I am going to do next.

‘You see, 22 years is not bad at all. I need to make a decision, and that is why I will not get into a discussion about my future.

‘I need to take a few days to reflect, and then I will decide what I will do.’
