wondering if some of you knowledgeable lot can clear something up for me.

Using the new Aspire Feedlink revvo kit, where the coil on the tank can be as low as 0.1 and has a fixed wattage of 80w.

If you use an ohms law calculator at 4.2 volts, 0.1 ohms and 80 watts, the amp draw is 42 !!!!!
Is this right ?
That surely means I can't use a vtc5a in it never mind a 25r . Not even an HB6 would be high enough.

Am I missing something here ?
 
Well.....
Theoretically you shouldn't use any cell way beyond it's max amp output.

But...

It's not as if folks don't put 0.0xxxohm builds on mechs.....
And mostly survive the experience.....

So what would you recommend then mate , vtc5a or HB6 ? Only, when @MrTeaTime did his review on it he used a 25r. Aspire recommend using a 35 amp cell but do they exist ?
 
First off I'd recommend NOT building at less than 0.2 ohms!!
Says him that usually has 0.16 on my SOI X mech....

If you can endure the limited cell life, then go with the HB6, if no, go VTC5A.

I doubt you'll get any more oral satisfaction from less then 0.2 than you would from more than 0.2 ohms.
 
This is a semi-regulated device, much like a mechanical mod the Feedlink draws power directly from your battery and the power applied will be determined by the resistance of your coil and charge level of your battery.

Ohms law says a 0.1 coil would be 176w for a 42a draw on a mech but if it's regulated/limited to 80w max then it's not going to be a 42a draw... I don't think?

It's really hard to know because I can't really work it out using ohms law

Thats not right. The device is being limited to 80Watts, so with a 0.1 ohm coil, you will be drawing 28Amps as it is reducing the voltage. Hope this helps

The thing is though mate. If I put a dripper on it then I will build at 0.3 so a vtc5a will be more than enough. The supplied tank however, has stock arc coils that vary from 0.1 to 0.14 and the mod is supposedly fixed at 80 watts if that makes a difference. I'll be honest here and say it's confusing me a bit.

That's true mate. Even when I put 80 watts in the ohms calculator it still came out at 42 amp.
