This is stupid virtue signaling.

Absolutely ridiculous. I sometimes want to watch the women's high-jump, giant slalom (alpine skiing) etc events and couldn't care less about the blokes' race. Nothing wrong with NOT wanting to watch a men/women WC.
No idea how this silly/PC move contributes to 'gender equality'. what a dumb world we live in!

Unless they compete against men they'll still be a women's league. What pretend otherwise?

I really want to watch women play rugby now!
Fantastic idea!

I think this has more to do with the horrifying fact that many national and international sport organisations are now allowing biological males to play in women's competitions and teams. It means women are at a huge risk of injury from competitors who have a biological advantage of being physically stronger and bigger, but it means women's sport no longer exists. Nothing wrong with being transgender, but it's cheating for a biological male to participate in women's sport.
There are many instances of this happening, this is just one report from today https://www.bbc.com/sport/rugby-union/49298550

Can they be "Women" and "Gender Neutral" at the same time?

the article doesnt say, but are men also allowed to compete?! If not, then the organizers are hypocrites.

Wait, did I miss something? Now the men's world cup will be called the Rugby World Cup and the women's world cup will be called the... Rugby World Cup? Sounds kinda stupid.

Jesus, society has officially collapsed. Everyone needs to get out and buy supplies now, because it's about to get bad, REALLY bad. Anarchy. Humanity is doomed.
Strangerland
In all seriousness though, why is this a problem? It's a victim mentality. Take back the power, and just name the men's cup the Men's Rugby World Cup. Then there's no confusion. We don't need to be victims, and choosing so is victim culture.

That would be a false title. As the article says, the major leagues and tournaments are not gender specific, meaning in they're are open to all.
Thus the women advocates are fighting against equality and inclusion.

They'll probably use different fonts for the promotional stuff, until it becomes font neutral too.
