Like the steady beat of a drum, shopping holidays march on in the midst of a pandemic. This weekend, in particular, a few have clashed—there are deals for Valentine's Day and Presidents' Day, plus several winter clearance discounts as the season winds down. We parsed through dozens of stores and rounded up the best Presidents' Day deals below.
Be sure to check out our many other buying guides, such as the Best Electric Toothbrushes and Best Base Layers.
Updated February 14: We removed expired deals and added a handful of new ones. Keep in mind that most of these discounts end on today, February 15.
Special offer for Gear readers: Get a 1-Year Subscription to WIRED for $5 ($25 off). This includes unlimited access to WIRED.com and our print magazine (if you'd like). Subscriptions help fund the work we do every day.
This weekend is one of the best times to buy a mattress. For year-round recommendations, read our Best Mattresses and Best Robot Vacuums guides.
- Helix Sleep Presidents’ Day Sale: Save up to $200 on our favorite bed in a box. Coupon codes vary, but you’ll see the offer for your chosen product during checkout. You will also get two free Dream Pillows with whatever coupon code you use.
- Allswell Presidents' Day Sale: Use coupon code PREZ21 to get 15 percent off mattresses and 20 percent off other products. Allswell also made it into our Best Mattresses guide (twice).
- Purple Presidents' Day Sale: Purple mattresses are in our Best Mattresses roundup as an Honorary Mention. For Presidents’ Day, you can save up to $350 depending on the bundle you choose.
- Nectar Presidents' Day Sale: Nectar's mattresses, which we like, aren't discounted. (The queen-size memory foam mattress we linked to is almost always $799.) However, depending on which size you opt for, you can get $200 to $300 in accessories like pillows or mattress protectors included with your purchase.
- Tuft and Needle Presidents' Day Sale: These mattresses are good for relieving pressure. Mattresses are 15 percent off, and you can get 10 percent off the rest of the site.
- Birch Presidents' Day Sale: Helix is Birch's parent company, so it makes sense that the deals are similar. Get $200 off and two free pillows. Birch is a good organic mattress.
- Aura Carver Digital Frame for $169 ($30 off): WIRED writer Medea Giordano loves Aura's digital frames. They're expensive, but they make great gifts, especially while we're all social distancing. The Carver is the sleekest frame, but the Mason and Sawyer are also discounted for $180 ($20 off) and $259 ($40 off).
- Roborock S4 Max Robot Vacuum for $329 ($100 Off After You Clip the Coupon): The Roborock S4 Max is the Best Robot Vacuum for most people. It'll navigate most obstacles with ease, and the long battery life means it can likely clean all of your floors in one session.
- Lelo Hugo Prostate Vibrator for $175 ($44 off): We recommend this vibrator in our sex tech roundup. It has a motion-sensing feature that makes it fun to use partnered or solo.
- ColourPop Presidents' Day Sale Are Up to 75 Percent Off: We love ColourPop Cosmetics' affordable makeup, but sitewide sales like this one make the goods even cheaper.
- Allform Couches in a Box Are 20 Percent Off: Use coupon code PRESDAY20 to save. Allform makes some of the best couches you can buy online. The sofas are easy to assemble, they're comfortable, and the fabric holds up well.
- Burrow Presidents' Day Sale: Use code POTUS to save. Discounts vary based on what you order and how much you spend, but we don't see sales at this retailer too often. Burrow also makes one of our favorite couches.
Braving the outdoors? Check out our list of Outdoor Winter Clearance Deals going on now. You can also get more context from our guides to the Best Running Socks and Best Winter Running Gear.
- Moment MTW Backpack for $150 ($20 off): Need an everyday camera backpack? This one from Moment is one of our favorites. It has enough room for the essentials, and the camera compartment is super accessible. (It does not come with the camera insert.) Opt for the 21L size if you tend to overpack. Our Best Camera Bags guide has more options.
- HydroFlask 32 Fluid Ounce Insulated Bottle for $22 ($23 off): HydroFlask makes some of our favorite reusable bottles. The powder coating on the exterior is tough and scratch-proof, and the bottle won't leak. Add stickers for extra Gen Z cred.
- Mountain Hardwear Ghee Hoodie for $53 ($22 off): This is our favorite synthetic base layer. It has flat seams positioned off the top of the shoulder, so backpack straps won't cause sore spots, and the fit and weight are spot-on. REI doesn't have the men's version on sale, but you can get the non-hoodie version for $42 ($18 off).
- Delta Cycle Bkin Personal Safety Light for $10 ($5 off): Clip this light on your jacket or backpack while you're running, biking, or just going for a walk so that drivers can see you. It'll run for 10 hours on a charge and can be set to blink or light up steadily.
- Prana Polar Escape Jacket (Women's) for $60 ($60 off): We hardly ever see this cozy jacket selling for full price, but that doesn't make this deal a bad one. This piece was included in our gift guide for the perpetually cold—and really, who wouldn't want a wearable blanket?
- Huckberry Winter Clearance Sale: This event happens but once per year. There are hundreds of items to choose from. One standout is this Outerknown Blanket Shirt for $50 off—we included it in our upcoming Best Loungewear guide.
Several products recommended by our reviewers and editors are on sale below. Check out our Buying Guides for more great picks.
- Samsung Galaxy S21 (Unlocked) for $700 ($100 off): We quite like this new release from Samsung. It's cheaper than last year's model yet speedier, takes better photos, has 5G connectivity, and (let's be honest) the colors are dope. Shipping is delayed, but this is an excellent price on such a new phone. Even better, the S21 Ultra is also on sale for $200 off. It's our favorite camera phone at the moment. Read our review for more.
- Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra (Unlocked) for $1,100 ($200 off): If you really want a stylus, and maybe one of the biggest Android phones around, Samsung's Note 20 Ultra is the way to go. It has excellent performance and cameras, plus good battery life. Read our review for more.
- Lenovo Chromebook Duet for $252 ($28 off): The Lenovo Duet is one of our favorite Chromebooks. It's lightweight, affordable, and fun. It may not be the best choice as your only machine—the keyboard is nice, but it's small. The Duet is slightly smaller than the entry-level iPad, with a 10-inch screen and a detachable keyboard and back cover.
- Lenovo 15-inch Yoga i7 for $810 ($289 off): This Yoga 7i has an 11th-generation Intel Core i5 processor, 8 gigabytes of RAM, and a 512-gigabyte SSD. The screen isn't the brightest at only 250 nits, but if you can live with that, this is a solid deal.
- Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon for $1,931 ($1,287 off): Use code THINKFEB to see the sale. WIRED writer Scott Gilbertson says he's been testing the Linux version of the X1 Carbon for more than a month, and if you like ThinkPads, it's a great machine. The RAM is soldered, so you can't upgrade it down the road, but that's our only gripe. But this deal features the maximum 16 gigabytes of RAM, so you don't need to worry. You also get a 10th-generation Intel Core i7 chip and a 1-terabyte SSD.
- Apple Watch Series 6 for $350 ($50 off): This is about the lowest Apple's newest Watch sells for outside of holidays like Black Friday. We really like this iteration for iPhone owners—it has some great health features. Read our full review here.
- Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 for $300 ($100 off): This gadget hasn't dropped this low since the holidays. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 is the Best Smartwatch for Android users.
- Apple iPad (2020) for $300 ($30 off): Apple's very good basic iPad sells for this price relatively often, but it hasn't dropped lower. Most models and capacities are on sale, though some have been going in and out of stock. If your chosen model is sold out, check back later. The even-better iPad Air (2020) is also on sale, though the discount is small.
- Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ for $710 ($140 off): Clip the coupon to save. Even without the extra $50 off, this is a very good deal on the best Android tablet. If you want to spend even less, the Tab S7 is also on sale—just keep in mind the display isn't as great.
- Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus Tablet for $85 ($25 off): Amazon tablets go on sale pretty frequently, but they offer good value even at full price. Fire tablets are usually great for kids and basic needs. This model is no exception. Read our full review.
- Amazon Kindle Paperwhite for $95 ($35 off): The Paperwhite isn't the cheapest Kindle, but it is one of the best—especially on sale. It's waterproof, lightweight, sharp, and has astounding battery life. Just know that there are rumors of a successor launching this year.
- More Amazon Devices on Sale: We don't have enough room to list them all, but if there's an Amazon gadget you've been eyeing, you can probably save some cash right now.
- Roku Premiere for $25 ($10 off): This isn't our favorite Roku, but it is the second-best option, and it can handle 4K and HDR resolutions. You can also get this deal at Target and Best Buy. We like the Roku Streaming Stick Plus more, but its current discount isn't nearly as enticing. Read our Roku guide to learn more.
- Razer Huntsman Mini Gaming Keyboard for $100 ($20 off): This is one of the Best Gaming Keyboards at its lowest price yet. Its small footprint won't take over your whole desk, but despite the diminutive size, you won't lose out on power or features.
- Apple AirPods Pro for $180 ($70 off): These are on sale pretty frequently, but haven't fallen this low in price since November. Shipping is slightly delayed. The AirPods Pro are the best headphones for iPhone owners. Read our full review to learn more.
- Samsung Galaxy Buds for $49 ($100 off): These earbuds are a little bit older now, but we still like them, especially at this killer price. They have never sold for less. Read our full review for more.
- Xcentz Portable Power Bank for $9 ($11 off): I, Louryn, own and like this pocket-sized power bank. For less than $10, it's especially nice. While the battery itself recharges quickly, it has a big enough capacity to fully charge my iPhone 11 twice. There are USB-A and USB-C charging ports.
