Kidnapped PDP national youth leader regains freedom

Kidnapped national youth leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a former lawmaker, Sunday Ude Okoye, has regained his freedom. Okoye according to the police regained freedom from his captors on Tuesday evening.

Kidnapped national youth leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a former lawmaker, Sunday Ude Okoye, has regained his freedom. Okoye according to the police regained freedom from his captors on Tuesday evening.

The former Majority Leader of the state House of Assembly was kidnapped on Monday evening in his farm at Agbogwugwu, Awgu local government area of Enugu State by mask-wearing gunmen.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Enugu command, Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the release of the politician, did not say whether any ransom was paid to secure his freedom.He stated, however, that manhunt for the perpetrators of the crime had been intensified, adding that the former lawmaker was hale and hearty.

Also, a statement from the Special Assistant to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Mr. Louis Amoke, confirmed the release of the former lawmaker.
Amoke stated in a WhatsApp message he shared with correspondents that the “abducted National Youth Leader of the PDP, Sunday Udeh-Okoye, has regained his freedom.”He also did not indicate whether a ransom was paid to secure his release.

Meanwhile, the mother of‎ Jigawa State governor’s ex-Special Adviser on Politics, Alhaji Yahaya Muhammad (Bigman) has been abducted. She was kidnapped by gunmen on Monday night.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, Bala Zama Senchi, confirmed the incident to newsmen yesterday. He said the kidnappers abducted the 70-year-old mother of the former aide at her residence in Gaya village under Danladin Gumel constituency of Suletankarkar Local Government Area of the state.
According to the police boss, many police officers have been deployed to the surrounding towns and villages to locate the abductors, adding that the kidnappers have contacted the family for ransom.A family member who pleaded for anonymity said the kidnappers have since made contact with the family, requesting for N50 million ransom.
