Inter will complete a deal to sign Edin Dzeko from Roma when they return from their preseason tour in Asia, Gazzetta dello Sport reported this morning.

The Bosnian has become the Nerazzurri’s new priority in attack due to the lack of progress in talks with Manchester United for Romelu Lukaku.

Roma currently want €20 million while Inter are offering €12 million, but the Giallorossi are giving off the impression they will soon drop their asking price.

Dzeko will not arrive in time to join Antonio Conte’s side in Asia but he will be available for selection after Inter’s third prestige friendly, against Paris Saint-Germain in Macau next Saturday.

Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio will fly to Nanjing this weekend ahead of a transfer summit with Conte, Steven Zhang and Suning boss Zhang Jindong.

The pair will return to Milan thereafter and at that point they will close the deal with Roma, following a long standby in negotiations.

Dzeko is a close friend of Ivan Perisic but there is no guarantee they will be reunited in Milan, after Conte threw the Croatian’s future back into doubt yesterday.

Inter’s new boss told reporters he was still evaluating Perisic’s suitability for the left wing-back position in his 3-5-2 system, opening the door to a departure.

Mauro Icardi and Radja Nainggolan will definitely not play for Conte this season, but neither are on the verge of joining new clubs.

Icardi flew to Ibiza last night where he joined up with wife and agent Wanda Nara, along with FIFA agent Gabriele Giuffrida.
