WATCH: Rutgers wrestling champs Anthony Ashnault, Nick Suriano honored at Devils game

Anthony Ashnault and Nick Suriano’s victory tour made a stop at Prudential Center in Newark.

Rutgers’ two national champion wrestlers took in Monday’s game between the Devils and Rangers at The Rock, where the were honored by the Devils during a stoppage during the first period.

The two grapplers also rode the zamboni during the game’s second intermission, getting one more chance to be recognized by the crowd.

Prior to the game, the Ashnault and Suriano met with Devils forward and N.J. native Kenny Agostino, who presented the two with custom jerseys.

The two became the first national champions in Rutgers wrestling history when they took home individual titles at the NCAA tournament on March 23 in Pittsburgh.

Suriano became the program’s first official champion when he won the 133-pound title. Ashnault then capped off an undefeated senior season by winning the 149-pound crown.
