This #WomensEqualityDay, we mark the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which was an important step forward in granting women the right to vote. Going beyond the significance of today, women’s rights have come a long way over the past century – we note just a few milestones here while realizing there is still progress to be made. Here’s to celebrating women of all backgrounds and orientations today and every day. 📍 1920 – 19th Amendment signed into law 📍 1955 – Women’s Civil Rights Movement starts 📍 1963 – Women’s Pay Act signed 📍 1965 – Voting Rights Act signed 📍 1972 – Title IX of Education Amendments passed 📍 1981 – First woman appointed to the Supreme Court 📍 1997 – First female Secretary of State appointed 📍 2013 – Ban against women in military combat positions removed
