Cagliari sporting director Marcello Carli has admitted that now is not the right time to discuss the future of Radja Nainggolan with the club.

The former Belgian national team midfielder is currently out on loan at the Rossoblu club from Inter and it is unclear where his future will lie past the end of this season.

Nainggolan could end up staying with Cagliari, he could return to Inter before being sold on to another club or he could even sensationally be reintegrated into the Inter first team, as per a few reports that have done the rounds in the media.

“Nainggolan staying with Cagliari? Talking about it now does not make sense now, he still has a two year contract with Inter,” Carli remarked in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia earlier on today.

He was then asked whether he thinks Nainggolan will remain with the club for the remainder of the season if it starts back up again.

“We have not yet addressed this issue, but the most logical one is that the player in question remains with us until the end of the season but I don’t think that this situation is different from what normally happens.”

Whilst in Sardinia, Nainggolan has made 24 appearances across all competitions to date. In just shy of 2000 minutes on the park, the former Roma player has scored five goals and has also provided a total of six assists.
