Our guide to stand-up, improv and variety shows happening this weekend and in the week ahead.

DAVE CHAPPELLE at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater (July 9-13, 8 p.m.; through July 20). The reigning Grammy winner for comedy album and Emmy winner for variety special, as well as the soon-to-be recipient of the Mark Twain Prize, Chappelle makes his Broadway debut after enjoying multiple runs in recent years at Radio City Music Hall. Tickets in the orchestra section are still available for the first week of his run at the Lunt-Fontanne; a handful of seats in the mezzanine and orchestra sections remain for the second week.

‘A CONVERSATION WITH ELLIE KEMPER’ at the Town Hall (July 11, 8 p.m.). Best known for her starring role in Netflix’s “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” Kemper first made a name for herself on New York City’s improv and sketch comedy stages. She’ll talk about her experiences, which she documented in a 2018 collection of essays, “My Squirrel Days.” The price of a premium ticket includes a signed copy of the book.

‘BONNIE MCFARLANE’S WORLD’S BEST COMEDY SHOW’ at Gotham Comedy Club (July 8, 8 p.m.). The title sounds like a reach, but this new monthly showcase hosted by Ken Krantz features McFarlane and some of the funniest comedians working in the city today. The lineup includes Keith Robinson, Ted Alexandro and Gary Gulman, who just filmed a stand-up special for HBO.

‘JACQUELINE NOVAK: GET ON YOUR KNEES’ at the Cherry Lane Theater (July 10-12, 7:30 p.m.; through Aug. 18). This comedian, who has performed stand-up on shows such as “2 Dope Queens” and “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon,” shared sad stories in her 2016 memoir, “How to Weep in Public: Feeble Offerings on Depression From One Who Knows.” The title of her Off Broadway debut may find her metaphorically down but not out; rather, Novak is talking about oral sex in this one-woman show, which is presented by Natasha Lyonne and in previews until July 22. The comedian and actor John Early, whom Novak worked with previously for his Netflix showcase, “The Characters,” is the director; Mike Birbiglia, the executive producer.

To make it worth your while, they’ve got a stacked lineup of comedians: Emmy Blotnick, Josh Gondelman, Conner O’Malley, Ziwe Fumudoh, Josh Sharp, the Lucas Brothers, Anna Drezen and Aparna Nancherla.
