Joe Biden mocks Trump’s Fourth of July history snafu: ‘Oh God, a stable genius’

.

PORTSMOUTH, New Hampshire — Joe Biden turned President Trump into a punchline Friday as he hobnobbed with young Democrats.

“I saw a tweet yesterday where Donald Trump said that we’re going to regret, that everyone’s gonna support him,” the former vice president said during a 2020 presidential campaign stop. “He said because they’re going to regret, they’re going to realize they have got a handsome — how did he say it? — they’ve got a handsome, very stable genius in the White House right now.”

“Let’s talk about that genius for a second,” the White House hopeful added to cheers from the audience.

Biden was speaking to a crowd of 400 gathered for the New Hampshire Young Democrats’ Summer BBQ. Biden then pointed to Trump’s Fourth of July “Salute to America” address, in which the president mistakenly said the Continental Army “took over the airports” from the British during the Revolutionary War of the late 1700s.

“I’ve always considered myself a student of American history. Well, I guess I missed that whole chapter on the Revolutionary War,” he said. “I guess the Wright Brothers got confused too. I don’t know what the hell happened. Oh God, a stable genius. As my brother would say, ‘Give me a break.'”

Trump has repeatedly called himself a “stable genius.”

Biden, who is the Democratic primary front-runner, ended on a serious note, sharing advice with anyone considering following him into politics.

“Figure out what is worth losing over before you run,” he said. “If you can’t determine what you’re willing to lose over as a matter of principle, do not run for office.”

Biden is slated to make appearances in Atkinson and Londonderry, New Hampshire, on Saturday, after holding three campaign events on Friday.
