Exhibition of Namibian musical history looking for funding

The music department of SOAS, University of London, are looking for crowdfunding to bring an exhibition exploring the untold story of Namibian music from the 1950s to the 1980s to the university.

The exhibition, entitled Stolen Moments: Namibian Music History Untold (1950-80s), looks at the stories behind some of the most popular music and culture in Namibia during the height of Apartheid rule. A co-curation of Namibian and German scholars, filmmakers and photographers, the exhibition includes a 90-minute documentary film, 14 listening stations for music, radio and interviews as well as a large selection of contemporary and current photographs and music memorabilia.

To raise the necessary funds to bring this exhibition to the Brunei Gallery, London, Dr Angela Impey of the SOAS music department is running a crowdfunding campaign. The department are asking all who are interested to contribute. If successful, the campaign will also fund a public engagement programme including panel discussions, tours and a summer school programme.
