Four state lawmakers representing this area want the General Assembly to meet as soon as possible to pass legislation that will keep the Dresden and Byron nuclear power plants open. Exelon Generation says those two plants cost too much to operate. The company wants financial incentives that will help pay for them. St. Sens. Sue Rezin and Brian Stewart and St. Reps. Tom Demmer and David Welter issued a statement Monday calling for the legislature to meet soon. They say tens of thousands of people’s livelihoods are at stake and energy bills will shoot up with such a drop in electric supply.
