Warning: If you’ve yet to watch Tuesday’s series finale of The Haves and the Have Nots, you might want to before reading this recap — it’s as full of spoilers as the hour was surprises!
Over the course of its eight seasons, The Haves and the Have Nots convinced us time and again that “Yup, that was the most bonkers thing we’ve ever seen on television.” Tyler Perry’s OWN soap pulled off the feat when it had Candace force Jim to make an S&M video, when Veronica had Erica blown up, when it had Wyatt shoot not one but both of his parents, when it had Jeffrey stab his homophobic mother in the breast implant…
Need we go on? Because you know we could, right? For days. Possibly even weeks. The point is, we thought for sure that by now, we had seen it all. To which the show responded, in essence, “Hold my beer,” and proceeded to unspool a series finale that was so spectacularly bat-s—t-crazy that we spent most of the jam-packed hour alternately slack-jawed with disbelief at what we were witnessing and screaming at the TV. Seriously, it was so far over the top, we doubt that it could even see the top anymore from where it landed! It was extra to the nth degree!

Honestly still in shock! I figured he would kill everybody but Hannah. They all got what was coming to them. Poor Madison though 😩
Very disappointed, what about the story about the President. And Candace was pregnant ,really? SMH! Should have ended with more substance. I told my friends about this show. They said they would binge watch. But knowing how it ended, Am afraid they would be so upset to waste their time . knowing I knew how it ended. And did not say anything.

Why wasre footage on Benny and new love, abd new baby boy, dream if the death Candace was part, Wyatt having drugs and not getting caught when he had to have a police outside his door! Why were not cuffs used instead of those restraints, where was the bad girl energy from Candace, her gun, Mitch being a big sissy, Hannah running over Jim was the best! It just does not make sense! When does Veronica give in to her crew that works for her! What about starting a footage on a gay daddy that dated Veronica and owned a gay bar! Wasted my time for substance! It felt like so fake!

I agreed. After all those years of watching this show and waiting for a grand finale, they ended up with just nothing. What I don’t understand is why they kept adding more stories to the series. For instance, why did they bring that Benny had a baby, or that Candice was pregnant? What a waste of my time all these years. I am very disappointed.

I think that David may have survived because he went out the back door. He was on his way to check on Jim I was hoping he got there in time to help Hannah. And why did Mama Rose and her family come out smelling like a rose. Jeffrey didn’t kill anyone why did he have to die?
When it was all said and done remember one thing…Hannah had control of the money 💰
Hanna good plenty of inheritance and no stupid kids to worry about but wait till she find out about Benny she stong tho have and have not u had a life and now you don’t you have money and now you don’t you have kids and now you don’t good title good show good actors ……..
I think it was time for some parts to come to and end expecially with the crooked ones Benny just stupid cause I would have stayed with my baby mama instead of messing with the mafia girl just thirsty if you Veronica and Candice and Jim didn’t die well that was a lesson and a blessing

I feel like they wasted so much of last season introducing irrelevant characters that the finale was just rushed basically it was just a shootout where everyone died but Hannah not satisfying. I mean why go into all of us storyline about the president if he’s nowhere in the picture why have the storyline of her being pregnant it’s nowhere in the picture why have this baby be introduced to Benny minutes before he dies. And I’ve Waited All Season to see Veronica die. And she died in the most insignificant way and we didn’t even get to see anybody react to her death very disappointing.

Exactly, Chris! This is the same thing Tyler Perry did on the ending of his other show, “If Loving You Is Wrong”. It had a ridiculously sloppy and shitting ending.
It just shows you that when TP gets tired of a show or storyline, he just doesn’t give a damn and throws everything together to see what sticks. That’s how the ending of this show came off to me. It’s as if he’s saying in his head “Let’s get this shit over with!”

I totally agree with you why add characters and have it end that way! I was so upset I do not think I will ever watch another Tyler Perry Soap Opra. He should stick to comedy if he is going to produce nonsense like this.
I agree the ending was awful. To kill off everyone who matters was an insult The way he did Mitch was wrong and to take both Hannah children after Benny became a new dad horrible. What was Tyler Perry thinking I was very disappointed

Hannah, no matter how much money or real estate she was left, NOTHING WILL TAKE THE PLACE OF LOOSING BOTH OF HER CHILDREN, and not knowing that Candace was pregnant with another new grand child, horrible ending, so rushed and disappointing, the finale sucked 100%

I agree in that I was disappointed in how it ended. I expected people to die, and knew there would be some twists courtesy of Tyler, but I was not happy with the way that it ended.

Yes it made me so mad that everyone got killed. Yes poor Madison but I don’t think Jeffrey deserved it either. The only two that seriously deserved it was Veronica and Jim.

I loved the haves and haves not! I’m so sad it’s not going to be on TV anymore. Now about the finale, why did most of the folks had to die, there should have been a couple of happy endings. Veronica, Candyce and Jim I understand. Venny should have been left to raise his son, would have love to see Jeffery, his dad and friend left along. The finale for me was good, just too many folks died in one night!
I legit LOL’d so hard at all of it. It definitely was on brand. Certainly knew it was a series finale, that’s for sure.

That’s exactly what I said. We as fans deserved better. I felt the same about how If Loving you is wrong ended. It makes me not want to look at anymore of his TV series.
I totally agree I mean they spent so spent so much I’m introducing new characters that we really didn’t get in depth to the characters that we really cared about and so at the very end he just killed them all off that’s the ending we get.
TP, you have loyal fans, I’m one of them, but what you gave us last night was HORRIBLE, WE deserve so much better. Bring us a spin off, showing that Candace & Bennie are still alive. Thank you!!!!

I didn’t like the idea that Veronica went from a professional lawyer to the most unprofessional ghetto lawyer i have ever seen. One of my favorite characters was Amanda Mrs. Cryer daughter she was so funny and such a good actress, should of got rid of Wyatt and not her

I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED WITH THE FINAL ENDING . SO MANY UNANSWERED QUESTIONS. THE FEMALE DOG VERONICA FINALLY RECEIVED HER JUST DO, IT TOOK A LONG TIME COMING. JIM ALSO HAD TO DIE . DIRTY DOG THOUGHT HE WAS THE 💩 BUT KATHRYN SHOWED HIM WHO REALLY CALLED THE SHOTS IN THAT RELATIONSHIP I LIKE KATHRYN. TYLER I FEEL YOU COULD HAVE DONE BETTER JOB,ENDING THE SHOW. IT IS LIKE YOU JUST THREW ANYTHING TOGETHER TYLER YOU’RE A GREAT PERSON BUT THE BOTTOM LINE IS ANYONE WHO HAVE YOUR WORK KNEW YOU COULD HAVE DONE A 100% BETTER.

Hannah ended up becoming a mainstay character on the show. I loved it when she killed Jim. Needed more follow up on Candice’s pregnancy. I think she finally changed when she offered to return the money. Kathryn was arrogant until she became aware of who Diamond was and she was killed. She could not fight at all. Benny’s scandalous behavior caught up with him at his death. The significance of him dying with his child was important. I did not like Veronica’s insignificant death , she deserved worse. I believe she had a premonition regarding her death moments before she stepped outside. I think her husband should have hooked up with Hannah – who turned out to be a STAR CHARACTER on the show. The ending was good but rushed. QUESTION: WHY WAS THE SERIES CANCELLED????????🛌

Tyler Perry you are brilliant!!! And I loved the show, and the ending shocked me, but I didn’t hate it. Don’t let all the negative comments stop you from doing Soap Operas!!! And as far as you doing a spin off? That would be nice, maybe Hannah could of been dreaming that everybody was killed. Because her 2 grown up kids keep her worried about how they are living, so she had a bad nightmare! But I do think Veronica should stay dead tho Lol!!! Or letting her get shot brings her down a peg or two, or three or four Lol!!! But what ever you do, don’t stop making Soap Operas!!! 🍑Yessss, We, Senior Citizens absolutely did. Vinna!!! I use to call my SisterCousin, Louise Baxter in New Jersey, to remind her to watch the HAHN, If Loving You Is Wrong,The Oval, & Ruthless. Guess, it’ll will give me more time to write poems (have written close to 900 poems, 2.2003 ~ present).

I watched and enjoyed the show through the years. But I was so disappointed with the conclusion. Watched this show for its entirety and there was no happy ending for any of the main characters. The president and Candace’s relationship wasn’t even touched. I enjoyed this show for years, for the beginning to the end. I hoped the final show would be better and different than the final episode of If Loving You Is Wrong, but….

If I We’re Tyler perry I would have never put my name on a finale that was such an epic failure. How do you figure that the mafia thugs should be all the ones that live in the end and then Hannah goes bonkers nuts everyone gets killed and dies what kind of ending is that I think a mediocre writer could’ve come up with a more intriguing satisfying ending this was absolute garbage. You Always want to have the hope of some type of redemption but here for everyone to get killed off and the kindest person in the series to go bonkers nuts this was the worst ending of any series I have ever watched the absolute worst and if I said that I’m disappointed it doesn’t even begin to express how I feel.

I feel the same way, didn’t like the ending at all.I through Candice and Charles would get back together and raise their child.Catherine would get out of jail and divorce Jim,leaving him with nothing. Whyatt would soon died.Jeffery and Madison would spend their life together, Benny would get together with his baby momer,Mitch would get even with his uncle and his gangster. And finally Hahn would be happy knowing that her children turned their life around. David would go on and try to get with Hahn.
I’ve never experienced so much shock and anger over a show before!!!! Omg!!! We need MORE!!!! What about the couple that was trying to extort Veronica? There’s still loose ends to tie up!!! My heart is pounding!!

That was the dumbest/hilarious series ending I have ever seen. He truly missed the mark, what a terrible ending, if he was going for full retribution, why didn’t he get rid of the Malone’s also. There were just as bad or worse than the other characters.

Very disappointed in final episode. Not sure about ratings this past season but the show had lost much of its luster. I’d watched since the beginning and pledged my loyalty to the show but most episodes were ‘dragged out’ with pointless dialogue and very little significant action. So, this final episode was overkill! Too unbelievably unrealistic!

The whole storyline of the lady veronica hired and had her dress like her was not even utilized. They could have at least showed that veronica wasn’t the one actually killed, and that it was the “lookalike” waisted moment.

The reason why I voted It was ok is because it could have been better! They had long pauses in between lines, I found myself shouting at the TV! The way Veronica was to her husband David and how he let her get away with it. How she treated him and Jeffrey! How Jeffrey responded back to her! On some of the lines between Veronica and another women. She would not have gotten away with it in real life! And this is just with Veronica. All the characters were that way. I found myself frustrated after every show because I felt it had potential but it always fell short. On a positive note. The fight between Hanna and Veronica, it was about time that happened! You could tell that Tyler Perry wrote, directed and produced the show! He should gave some of the duties to someone else! The story lines were good but I don’t know… it needed critiquing! They had some of the best actors on the show but the long pauses and how they handled things made me frustrated! felt it could been done better! I I mean I’m a Black woman and I know there were certain things I would not have tolerated as a Black women. I like Tyler Perry and he is talented! He deserves the accolades but it always seems like there was something missing on this show! My girlfriends feels the same way! I will be watching the reunion show next week though! I like the people!

I hoped the have nots would become the haves. (Hanna). With Katherine, Jim, and Wyatt dead she would get everything that Katherine had signed over. I also hoped that Benny and Candise would survive because she was pregnant. I was totally shocked that Jim drowned her in the bath tub. Poor Jeffery got bullied through out the series.

I have really enjoyed watching the shows of what Mr Perry have put together, of the makes you wonder, what’s going on? I love it. I just don’t get to watch it until the end or not at all sometimes. I wonder what’s going to be next??I wish it comes back!!
