“Are there any laws about not starting before a certain time?”

“Dear PoPville,

I just moved into a new building a month ago and for the past few weeks (but amped up a LOT this week) there has been constant construction on a new restaurant going into the building on the first floor right next door.

The construction starts before 8am every day and wakes me up and it’s difficult to work from home (which my company does full time still) as it’s near constant drilling and banging. I live on the third floor but it sounds like it’s right next to me it’s so loud.

Can I do anything about this? Are there any laws about not starting before a certain time? My building also did not inform us about any of the construction before we moved in. Instead they assured us multiple times about how sound proofed our walls were and the entire building to protect against outdoor noise, making it “great for WFH”. Instead it’s a disaster where I can’t take any meetings without being muted the entire time and it makes it hard to sleep or work. I assume this is just a case of “suck it up until the construction finishes, you live in a city” but wondered if anyone else has experienced anything similar and done anything about it? The worst part is getting woken up before 8 am even on weekends. ”

Thank you and I prefer to remain anonymous as my roommate really didn’t want me to say anything to anyone! And I hate to be a complainer but it is seriously so incredibly loud. Constant power drilling. It even terrifies my pets.”

Finding a gift for moms can be difficult. Google “Mother’s Day gifts,” and you’ll scroll through endless lists of beauty products, candles and fuzzy robes. Sure, those are sweet, but sometimes it’s fun to surprise loved ones with something a little more, well, practical!

Here’s one idea: Give her a gift certificate for a home cleaning from Well-Paid Maids. It’s the perfect “thank you,” “I love you” or “you’ve got this” for any mom. She can schedule the home cleaning at her convenience and breathe easy knowing she has one less thing to do.

Our cleaners will take care of everything, including vacuuming and mopping as well as cleaning and dusting countertops, tables, mirrors, appliances and more. Sinks, toilets, showers and appliance exteriors also get a good scrub.
