Letter: Support local libraries and vote yes on 6A

The Eagle Valley Library District needs your support on ballot issue 6A on November 5 to stop the adverse impact of the Gallagher Amendment. A yes vote on 6A will allow the library district to adjust the operating levy and maintain the same amount of revenue that is currently generated by the District’s 2.75 mill levy that was approved by voters in 1993.

The district provides so much more than just books for our residents and visitors and your yes vote on 6A will maintain library services at the branches in Avon, Eagle, and Gypsum.

Last year alone, the three branches welcomed almost 316,000 visitors to enjoy free internet service, access public computers, participate in community programs, take classes, design and print 3D objects and enjoy a warm, quiet place to relax and read a book.

My family and I are among the 27,000+ library cardholders that borrowed more than 292,000 items such as books, magazines, DVDs, e-books and audiobooks. We have attended Storytime, meetings, art and music programs and classes that are all available at no charge for everyone.

The library welcomes all visitors and locals alike to share in and enjoy the wealth of available information and to be part of our mountain community.
