Brixton Buzz DJs were back behind the decks at the Effra Social on Friday night, slamming down a sonic feast of floor-filling, loin-thrusting, wham-bam-thankyou-ma’am party tunes.

The gin powerhouse will be serving up a wonderful mix of 60s, retro, punk, hip-hop, dance and even a bit of Dolly Parton. Hell yes!
About the night
We’ve been putting on shows in Brixton since 2004, and love to lay down a spontaneous, fast moving, genre-leaping mix of fun, dancefloor-filling pop thumpers from the likes of:
David Bowie, Destiny’s Child, Fleetwood Mac, Cher, Ariana Grande, Eminem, The Cure, Kelis, Sean Paul, Nirvana, Missy Elliot, The Smiths, Drake, Blur, Pixies, Nelly, Le Tigre, Lauryn Hill, Bob Marley, Killers, Specials, Bon Jovi, Outkast, Chemical Brothers, Sugababes, Beatles, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Clash, System Of A Down, White Stripes, Kate Nash, Blink 182 and more!
And yes, we do sometimes play requests (if we have them) unless (a) they’re rubbish and (b) we’ve just played them while you were having a fag or you’re too drunk to remember.
Venue details
Stepping into this former Conservative social club is an experience in itself, with the wooden walls, dusty trophies and well-worn furniture oozing 1970s period detail. You can almost smell the polyester suits, the flapping flares and Double Diamond in the air.
It’s now an unpretentious, down to earth venue, unlike anywhere else in Brixton, and with plenty of ales and beers on offer at reasonable prices, it’s a great place to start off a big weekend!
