Coronavirus prompts Congo to cut 2020 growth forecast to 1.1%

KINSHASA — Democratic Republic of Congo has cut its 2020 economic growth forecast to 1.1% from 4.1% due to the negative impact of the coronavirus pandemic, the country’s central bank said in a statement seen by Reuters on Sunday.

The pandemic has caused global trade to slow, causing countries across central Africa to slash growth projections. (Reporting by Hereward Holland; Editing by Jan Harvey)
