Following the closure of the Summer transfer window, football business website Calcio e Finanza have taken a look at the financial impact all of Inter’s business had on them.

“According to the estimates of Calcio e Finanza in the past season the cost of the enlarged squad (gross salaries + depreciation + cost of the players on loan) of Inter was equal to €191 million,” the report begins.

“In the summer transfer window, Inter purchased eight players outright for a total investment of €138 million, including the redemption of Matteo Politano and some players then loaned back out. During the summer transfer campaign 2019-2020, Inter also signed four players on a temporary basis.

“In terms of outgoing transfers, Inter only sold one player outright in George Puscas to Reading for €8 million, all of which was capital gains.

“The greatest savings come from lightening the wage bill thanks to the loan departures of the Mauro Icardi, Radja Nainggolan, Ivan Perisic and Dalbert.

“Between income and expenses, the cost of the current team is around €221.6 million, an increase of around €30.5 million or 16% compared to last season. The gross salary amounts to €104 million, an increase of €600,000 on last year.”

The report concludes: “The increase in the costs of the team should however be partially compensated by the growth in turnover which should reach €400 million during the season, without taking into account any capital gains.”
