Former AC Milan and Barcelona director Ariedo Braida has shared his belief that it is almost impossible that Lionel Messi will decide to leave Barcelona anytime in the near future.

Over the past few weeks, media reports in Italy, Spain and Messi’s native Argentina have suggested he could leave the club due to him having a certain clause in his current contract.

As per the reports, the clause enables the multi-time world player of the year to leave the club for nothing in the Summer, so long as he gives 30 days notice of his intention to do so. Some reports have however stated that he can only use this clause to move to a minor league.

Several high profile clubs around the globe have been linked with a move for Messi including Inter and Juventus.

“Leo is fine in Barcelona, I honestly can not see him leaving there. I think it is almost impossible that he decides to go away,” he explained in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli earlier today.

“In any case, signing Messi would be a crazy signing for anyone; people from all over the world come to see him play. The clause to release him? There are constraints to this clause,”

In conclusion Braida, who left his role at Barcelona back in August last year, spoke on what Messi would bring to Italian football if he were to join an Italian team.

“Leo would certainly be an excellent investment, despite the high salary he has. He would bring exceptional attention to Italy.”
