Everything you didn't know about Trump's impeachment, and how the impeachment trial might play out

                    Everything you didn

US President Donald Trump, in December made history as the third US president to ever be impeached after the US House Of Representatives voted along party lines to impeach him for abuse of power and Obstruction of Justice.

                                              Everything you didn

According to the US House of Representatives, the US president abused his powers by withholding military aid to Ukraine in exchange for an investigation into his political rival, Joe Biden, by the Ukrainian government.

                    Everything you didn

But will Trump become the first president to be removed from office through impeachment?

Earlier this month, US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi decided to submit the articles of impeachment to the senate after initially holding onto them till the Senate leadership assured her that the senate trial would be fair. Senate leader Mitch McConnell refused to buddy, and attempted to change laws to remove her from the equation, so she acted quickly and decided to release the articles to the senate.

The US House of Reps' (controlled by Democrats) case against the president will be prosecuted by House managers led by Adam Schiff, a Democrat lawmaker and staunch Trump hater.

The senate trial started on Monday and is being headed by Supreme Court Justice John Roberts, a Republican appointee.

The US Senate Republicans on Tuesday night voted to block the Democrats' move to subpoena former National Security Advisor John Bolton to testify in the impeachment trial.
The Senate voted 53-47 to reject the proposal and the senators had to work till past 1a.m to reject 11 amendments to witnesses and subpoenas wanted by the Democrats.

                           Everything you didn

Trump's party controls a majority of the senate (53-47) so it will take a majority of the senate to vote against Trump for him to be impeached. Meaning at least 4 senators will have to side with the Democrats to remove Trump, which as it stands now, the chances of that happening are very slim.

The Democratic members of the House of Representatives chosen to present the impeachment case against Trump will deliver opening arguments to the Senate beginning on Wednesday.

                       Everything you didn

Democrats have a total of 24 hours over three days to present their case that Trump should be impeached for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress over his attempt to make the Ukraine government investigate political rival Joe Biden.

This is how the Trump impeachment trial is likely to play out in the senate barring any sudden or unforeseen circumstances.

-Senators will have a total of 16 hours to ask questions in writing to House prosecutors or the White House defence team.

-The written questions from the senators will be read out loud in the chamber by US Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, who is presiding over the trial..

-Witnesses and documents
House prosecutors and the White House defence team will have two hours each to argue for or against subpoenaing witnesses or documents.

-The Senate will then vote on whether any witnesses or documents should be subpoenaed. A simple majority vote of 51 senators will decide the issue.

-Following the conclusion of deliberations, the Senate will vote on each of the two articles of impeachment.

- A two-thirds majority of the senators present is required for conviction of Trump. Conviction on just a single article is enough to remove President Trump from office.

- The Senate vote could be held late next week - just before Trump's planned February 4 appearance before a joint session of Congress for the annual State of the Union speech.

Please do objective research before putting up articles on the impeachment of Donald Trump. Two I have noted that are false is: 1. The Impeachment articles are Abuse of power and "Obstruction of Congress" not "Obstruction of Justice" as stated. 2. It will take Two-Thirds of the Senate Vote to remove the president, not 51. Making it a number of 66. With that in mind your article should note that the chances of President Trump being impeached is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Thank you

The only error here is the 'Obstruction of congress' which you have noted, the other part where 51 is stated is actually correct. It states: 'The Senate will then vote on whether any witnesses or documents should be subpoenaed. A simple majority vote of 51 senators will decide the issue'. This is very correct, that is why Democrats are working towards convincing just 4 Republicans and boom! John Bolton, Mulvaney, Pompeo and various docs would subpoenaed.

Republicans should reverse the Sham impeachment conducted by the democrats in the house of representatives after the November election and after they must have won the majority of seats in the house of representatives and the senate

You lie Linda!!! Stop misleading people reading your blog. Ask questions if you don't know what you are talking about. The law states that, it will take two third majority to remove the president from the office. The republicans control the senate with a ratio of 53-47. This means, the democrats will need 20 republicans to side with them before the president can be removed. Please, do not say things you do not know. Thanks

You are the one actually wrong here. Apparently you didn't read the article to the end, it clearly states that: 'A two-thirds majority of the senators present is required for conviction of Trump. Conviction on just a single article is enough to remove President Trump from office'. The simple interpretation is that 67 yea votes are needed for the conviction/ removal from office.

Trump just need to relax take a cold bath and drink ice cream at a warm beach becos he is 100 % going nowhere, just by looking at the qualifications to remove him from office

“ Trump's party controls a majority of the senate (53-47) so it will take a majority of the senate to vote against Trump for him to be impeached. Meaning at least 4 senators will have to side with the Democrats to remove Trump,” This is not true. It takes 2/3 of the senate to actually remove him from office and that is 67 senators. This is why the whole thing is political motivated. Democrats knows they can’t win, they only hope to drag the trial longer in anticipation they win more senate seat and try to defeat DOnald trump in the coming election. However, Democrats will be defeated In my opinion
