Golden Boy shortlist: Mbappe omitted from the shortlist

In a move that has shocked the footballing world to its marrow, Paris Saint-Germain star striker, Kylian Mbappe has been surprisingly omitted from the final five-man shortlist for the prestigious 2018 European Golden Boy award.

The award is given to the best player under the age of 21 in Europe and was established by Italian publication Tuttosport, with Mbappe winning the award last season.

His omission is shocking considering the massive season he had with PSG, winning the World Cup with France as well as being named the Young Player of the Tournament in Russia.

Liverpool’s right back, Trent Alexander-Arnold, AC Milan’s striker, Patrick Cutrone, Roma forward, Justin Kluivert, Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt and Vinicius Junior are the shortlisted players for the prestigious award.

The winner will be decided by 30 journalists from various media outlets across Europe and will be announced on the 18th of December.
