US synth musician Michele Mercure's 1986 debut LP Eye Chant was repressed by Freedom To Spend in 2017. Freedom To Spend's sister label RVNG Intl are now releasing a new anthology of archive tracks by Mercure, titled Beside Herself. The music comes from self-produced cassettes released between 1983–90, which were circulated through tape trading networks. This compilation aims to showcase the scope of Mercure's electronic compositions over those years, and features sleevenotes by The Wire contributor Emily Pothast.
Beside Herself is released on 9 November by RVNG Intl. Read Emily Bick’s Michele Mercure feature in The Wire 418, on sale from 8 November.
