Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) – SC State Troopers are asking for the public’s help to identify a pickup truck they believed hit and killed a man just before daybreak Friday morning in Gaston. According to Corner Margaret Fisher, 54 year old Christopher Samson Sharpe was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident due to his injuries. He was riding his bike in the 300 block of Main St. when a truck headed toward Columbia swerved into the median, hit Sharpe, and then instead of stopping, fled the scene.
State troopers say the truck is believed to be a 2002-2007 White Chevrolet Silverado regular, extended or quad cab pickup. The wreck knocked the front grille off the truck and may have shattered the windshield. Even a part of the front bumper was knocked loose and left lying in the road. This truck will be very noticeable and its driver may try and wait for some time to have it repaired. It’s also possible the owner will try to conceal it in a garage, shed, out building, or even just change the normal direction the front end is facing when it’s parked.
