After four years without a major redesign, Apple has announced a new MacBook Air.
The new model has a high-resolution 13.3″ Retina display, as well as updated Intel i5 processor. It also boasts up to 16GB of RAM and 1.5 TB of storage. Apple has also updated the MacBook Air’s keyboard and touchpad, making the keyboard thinner and the touchpad larger.
The laptop is also, of course, smaller and lighter, weighing just 2.75 lbs.
Apple says that it has engineered a new way of recapturing aluminum shavings from the production process, meaning every new MacBook Air is made from recycled aluminum.
You’ll pay more than ever before for the new Air. The laptop starts at $1,199, which is $200 more than the previous generation. That base model will only have a 1.6 GHz i5 CPU, as well as 8GB of RAM, and 128 GB of SSD storage.
The laptops are available today (Oct. 30) and will ship Nov. 7.
